Overview
Rock Rabbit is a fast-growing climate tech startup that simplifies how homeowners and contractors find and apply for energy upgrade incentives.
When we started our journey, Rock Rabbit faced a pressing challenge—they had a tight timeline of 2 months to prepare for critical demos with major utility companies and VCs to secure funding and build partnerships.
At the same time, clean energy rebate programs proved daunting—complex, ever-changing, and difficult for customers to navigate. Simplifying these programs and making them accessible quickly became a top priority for Rock Rabbit.
We partnered closely with the founders to design their mobile app from start to finish. By mapping user flows, addressing edge cases, and building a cohesive visual system, we created an intuitive, high-performing product that played a key role in helping them secure $3.1M in seed funding.

Why it matters
Process
With investor and strategic partner calls lined up, Rock Rabbit has an aggressive timeline to meet. To achieve this, we customized our design process by following some key principles — prioritizing learning, and testing & iterating as much as possible.
With each feature, we identified critical user flows, helped define requirements, and designed pixel perfect prototypes to test with users and hand off to the engineering team.

Craft
While we faced an accelerated timeline, we still prioritized maintaining a high standard of quality and user experience at every stage. To validate our design decisions, we conducted usability testing with contractors, iterating on their feedback to refine flows and interactions until the product felt intuitive and effective in real-world use.
Equally important was designing with scalability in mind. Rapid execution often risks accruing design debt, so we deliberately invested in a scalable design system—a library of reusable components that not only supported the immediate launch but also created a foundation for consistency, efficiency, and growth in the years ahead.
